"My 9-year-old reads on a par with me."

"My daughter has been attending Columbia Academy since she was 4½ years old. When she arrived she was timid and completely unsure of herself. After a few months she was completely confident in herself and her newly gained abilities. She was reading simple words, making and reading simple books, learning math, improving her social skills, etc. Boy, was I ecstatic!!!

The trend continued. She completed 1st and 2nd grade before she was 8. She finished 3rd grade this past spring and has been working on her 4th grade requirements since then. She is now almost 9 years old and would be entering the 3rd grade in the fall. To my utter delight, this fall she will be starting 5th grade math, she’s already reading at a 4th grade level and she has begun to enjoy the bevy of courses that students do on an independent basis. Her teacher is the best. Always understanding but never too lenient that her students get out of line. The students are there to learn and they love it.

One of the most important aspects of any education to me is that a child be able to read easily without a lot of effort. The reading program has been smooth and effortless for my daughter. I am embarrassed to say that she reads almost on par with me! That’s a little daunting to say, but it speaks reams for the school’s ability to teach a fundamental skill that has all but dropped out of our current public schools. I feel that if a child can read and has great study habits they can take charge of their education and get what they want out of life. Columbia has been able to provide what I need and want.

The social atmosphere of Columbia Academy is one that my child has thrived in. I would not attempt to put her in the nightmare of what passes for school currently. This is the place for any child that wants to learn and be challenged and for parents who want the ultimate in primary education for their children. I could go on forever. Do yourself a favor and at least call. It may save your child’s education and your sanity."
